Wat sek dulu dan sekarang
The Terengganu dialect is amazing. Few years ago I shared an article about Mujo in one of my FB notes. Few days ago, I read about this in my brother's FB page.

Ha ha... Memang kelakar. Kelasss bahasa Ganu...

Speaking about 'wat sek', we actually had something similar years ago, when I was in my matriculation days. I often exchanged text messages with 2 of my best friends Mona and Alon. In the class, I sat in the second row, behind Dijah and Lina Hassan. While Mona and Alon sat besides Dijah. So, how did we exchanged messages between us? We had what we called conversation book. I jotted down the message and asked Dijah/Lina Hassan to passed to Mona/Alon. And they will replied back the same way. Ha ha... Very outdated kan... But managed to keep us awake during classes. Kesian Lina Hassan and Dijah kena jadi posmen. And haru kalau conversation book tu terlepas kat orang lain yang tak sepatutnya baca...;D

Now with the modern days 'wat sek', I can easily keep in touch with family and friends. Especially friends. It makes life easier since we can 'wat sek' secara berkumpulan. We shared almost everything. Dari resipi ke masalah anak ke masalah bibik ke petua kurus ke bisnes ke isu-isu hangat ke perkongsian ilmu dan macam macam lagi.

On some days, the messages received can be hundreds. Sometimes, I may not be able to contribute to the discussion because of time and work constraints but reading the messages can be one way to release stress. And the messages keep me entertained during boring meetings... Well, I just have to remember to switch off the sound or else my phone will keep beeping each time there are incoming messages. So, let's 'wat sek'? To quote the tok kodi above: Barang percume! :)
The dark side of FB
Facebook, while it's good to keep you in touch with friends and family members, it also exposes you to some of its dark side.

Ever received a personal message like this?

Or a flattering one like this? A guy with sweet words like this. Who can resist huh? (Yeah...right...)

Or one with sweeter words like this one? Cair beb...(notttt!!)

Or one who is determined like this one? And you really think he is sincere and serious about falling in love with you. (Seriously???)

Thinking of replying their messages? Tettt.... wrong answer. Don't ever let yourself be fooled with these flattery messages from guys who look as decent as your next door neighbor. For all you know the profile pictures are just copy and paste from somewhere. You never know what devilish plans they have in mind if you respond to them. So do set boundaries to your FB. Even though there are many good sides of FB, beware of its dark side.

Sekian, pesanan khidmat masyarakat.:)

My SDII story
One of the good (or bad) things when you are in the FB network, you may got tagged or you may see people who were tagged in numerous advertisements and online business and whatnots. One of them is this protein drink SDII. Looking at the marvelous testimonials plus the convincing before and after pictures made me wonder, does this product really works?

Eventually, to cut the story short, I bought 1 tin. Friends asked me, kau nak slim apa lagi, kan dah slim... Erkks... slim ke?? Well, I still have hidden (not so hidden) fat (yang tegar) that I need to shed. So my journey with SDII begins. RM150 terbang. Tu pun mujur ada kawan yang boleh dapatkan member's price.

First dose of SDII: Two scoops plus 250ml of plain water. Shake...minum sikit... yuckks.... Rasa mcm nak termuntah. I was reminded of the glucose drink when I had to do the glucose tolerance test during my previous pregnancy. But I managed to finished the drink and retain it in the stomach. And subsequent drinks, I thought it would be easier but no... I still cringe and made faces every time I chugged the drink down my throat. Well, holding your breath while drinking helps a little.

After 1 tin, what's the results? Ha ha... Macam tak de perubahan pun. I lost more weight when I did my puasa 6 marathon during Syawal recently. Well, maybe for some people it works but if you are like me, better forget it. Because:

1. I was supposed to drink 3-4 times a day. But I have a very bad compliance issues. Sometimes I only drank once, often only twice a day, rarely 3 times, never 4 times. One tin was supposed to lasts for only 1 week. It took me longer than that.
2. I was supposed to restrict to protein diet and stay away from carbohydrates and sugared drinks. There was many a time I broke this rule. Especially at home. Siapa yang nak abiskan nasi or lauk pauk anak bila anak tak abis makan? Plus I often had lunch/tea/ice-cream with friends. Takkan nak tengok je kawan-kawan tu makan. Harus kena temankan.
3. Finally, of course la, exercise very the malas.

So, conclusion (for me, not for anyone else), cukup la 1 tin. Better do it naturally. But first, lunch date with the Kiahs (Hemy and Mas) in approximately 1 hr time.:P

More than 'play-play'
This is how I exploited the use of Blackberry playbook :):
To ensure she will be occupied when traveling so that mummy can doze off for a while (or more time for FBing).

To entertain herself while mummy busy with house chores (or FBing again).

To ensure she would be obedient and finish her meal faster so that mummy can clear all the dishes in the sink (or again more time for FB).

To put her to sleep so that mummy can finish off ironing and what nots (or of course, FBing). ;P

To friend or to unfriend
Few months ago, I had to go to Kuala Terengganu for a work trip. And my family went together, thus became a holiday trip for them. Well, kena ponteng sekolah la tapi...

Anyhow, usually, during trips like this, my kids would buy souvenirs such as key-chains and fridge magnets (by the dozens at times) to give to their friends and teachers. And the Kuala Terengganu trip was no exception.

A few days after the trip, I asked Syahirah aka Angah, my second daughter, whether she has given the key-chains to her friends.

She said, bagi kat cikgu je. Tak nak la bagi kat kawan Angah.

I asked, kenapa pulak macam tu?

Dia jawab, Nanti bila dia tak kawan Angah dia pulang balik key-chain tu. Pas tu bila dia kawan balik, dia mintak balik. Tak nak la Angah.

Dalam hati, dah gelak berdekah-dekah, but I controlled and said, Boleh pulak kejap kawan kejap tak kawan.

Instead of answering, dia pulang paku buah keras kat mak dia and said, 'Alaa... masa mak kecik dulu, mesti mak pun pernah tak kawan dengan kawan mak...'

Adeiihhh... tak terjawab mak dia. Coz it's true. Ha ha...

Well, now, the art of friendship has evolved.  She is yet to discover that there's a simpler way to friend or to unfriend someone. It is as easy as a click of the mouse. :D

Facebook friends or foes?
In the beginning of my venture into Facebook, I accepted all friend requests, regardless of gender. Then, since I share lot of things on FB such as photos, statuses and my whereabouts, I became more selective on who I accepted. And friends list spring-cleaning was performed some time ago.

The first thing that I consider upon receiving friend requests is 'Do I know this person?'. This sometimes include viewing their photos if available. If I know the person, will accept right away. If not, will move on to the 2nd stage of filtering.

I scrutinize mutual friends that we have. Who do we have in common in our friends' list? Students? Ex-school/university mates? This will require some checking out of their info page. I will definitely accept if it's from students or ex-school/university mates. If they don't belong to this category, I have to put on another filter.

I click on their walls and check out their activities. Kalau semua aktiviti perniagaan which most probably I'm not interested in anyway, sorry to say, I will have to turn down the requestshame on you. If the activities look benign enough, I will consider accepting.

Recently, I received a couple of messages via FB, from abroad I assumed.

Message 1: You are so beautiful that I really believe when our creator thought of beauty, He saw only you.I would be coming to your country soon if you don't mind can we meet up and get to know you more...Nate

Huiyo.... boleh cair bila baca ni.. Well... at least for people who are naive enough labig grin.
Message 2: Hello Dear…..i know this email will meet you by surprise, my name is Richard Mark I’m a Canadian but presently working in United Kingdom as a contractor. from Richard

Who knows, maybe the intention is genuine but since he did not pass the above filters, I chose to Ignore.
And thank God for this filter coz I have previously received a request from someone who called himself Ranjang Perkasa. Isyhh...baca nama je pun takutworried.

Thus, choose your FB friends wisely or they may turn out to be foes instead.
If FB existed years ago
I got this via an email from a friend (thanks Atuk!) This is cool and hilarious. Well, if Mark Zuckerberg travel back in time, this might just be possible.

Credits to this guy for these images.

Blackberry vs iPhone (FB matters)
I had the privilege of using iPhone previously and is lucky to be using Blackberry now. Since the application that I most often (or always?) use is Facebook, here are some differences between these smartphones in terms of FBing.
Pic from here.

1. The large screen of iPhone is wayyy better than BB which has a very cenonet screen. The larger the screen, the better to see the photos in FB.happy

2. The FB interface for iPhone is much more lively and colourful than BB's. Dull semacam je BB.yawn

3. iPhone will alert you of all notifications including the 'Likes' but BB will miss out on the 'Likes' alert. Unless you go to the Mobile site which is redundant if you think about it.rolling eyes

4. I don't like the quality of the photos taken by BB. Very poor. Yes, of course, my BB may lack some pixel as compared to the other BB models. Pics taken by iPhone looks much better.thumbs up

5. What I hated most about the BB (in terms of FB) is when uploading photos. There's a limit on the number of words you can type for the photo's caption. Unlike iPhone. And for someone who realllly loves to write long sentences and long captions, that limitation is realllly frustrating.frustrated

6. I looveee the iPhone's touch screen which makes the world an easier place to live in...winking Easy browsing, easy zooming and easy segala. With BB, the track pad which is very small in size, works just like the track pad on your laptop. Well, kinda easy to use but sometimes I may overscroll and accidentally click on something that I did not meant. For instance, I accidentally click 'Like' on somebody's activity and had to 'Unlike'. Asyik terbabas je...

7. Posting a status or a comment is comparable for both I think. Both kinda easy. And of course the tendency for typo exists for both. I used to hate the iPhone autocorrect and switched it off but then I switched it back on. Coz sometimes it helps, a lot... I'm aware of BB's autocorrect but I think it is not as extensive as iPhone. Ke aku yang tak pandai guna? tongue

8. One thing that I noticed when I was using iPhone was that there's no option to find friend and add the friend. While BB allowed you to send invitation by email. Well, you need to know the email address of the person to be able to use this option. sigh

9. One plus point of BB is the alert. Even though the application is already closed, the alert still comes in. Thus you don't have to constantly open the app and check whether there's any notifications. But with iPhone, once you have exited the app, the alert does not show sad. Well, the iPhone I was using was an older model. Maybe newer iPhones have been improved in this sense.

10. Something about non-FB. I like the way you can download BB's  templates and layout for the main screen. Many designs to choose from, and it's free. For instance from Crackberry. Cool...cool Not sure if iPhones allowed you to do that. My research is limited. (Malas la pulak nak buat research). And not forgetting the BBM. Well, that's another story.

There you have it. Ten points and most of them sided with iPhone. Well, what can I expect? iPhones are designed for entertainment purposes but BB is meant for the corporate, business  and busy (like me big grin) individuals that need to be contactable at all times. Thus, the dull appearance but very practical.

So, why the heck did I let go the iPhone and decided on BB instead? Well, it's free. Who am I to resist...happy
The ethics of Facebook?
My significant half succumbed to the lure of Facebook recently which is quite a surprise since he was quite determined at first not to open an FB account. So far, his FB activities  are very minimal; accepting friends' request, adding a few friends, updating status once in a blue moon, commenting on others' statuses once in a while and to date has only uploaded 3 photos. What a contrast to the wifey hee hee. Almost everyday I update my status, commenting on people's statuses/walls/photos sesuka hati, uploaded numerous photos, wrote several notes and posted quite a few links.

Anyhow, I scanned through his wall one day. Well, I have been scanning his page once in a while checking who has been added to his friends' list, who commented on his status etc etc etc... Stalker ke ni? winking And I noticed our mutual friend commenting on his wall. But my hubby did not respond to the comment.

So I asked him, 'Tak jawab ke si polan punye comment tu?
'Kena jawab semua comment ke?' he answered by asking a question... isyh... d'oh

Hmm... kena jawab ke tak? I have my own ethic in this matter. To me, people's commenting on my wall or statuses can be analogically compared to people knocking on my door or visiting me at home or saying hi to me. And to me, it is just appropriate to reply back as a form of an acknowledgment that I actually have read their comments and yes, I agree to the comment or no, I have differing opinions. Or sometimes I simply just put a smile as a reply or LOL for comments that are hilariously funny and I can't think of any funnier comments to reply. But then again, I do leave some comments go unanswered but that is very scarce. Selalunya, selagi boleh jawab, akan dijawab.

To put the above as an FB ethic might be too much. But there are a few ethics regarding FB available. And of course, the ethics of chatting/instant messaging or other netiquette should also be applied in FB, such as:

1. DON'T USE CAPS ALL THE TIME. IT MAKES YOU SOUND ANGRY AND SEEMS YOU ARE SHOUTING!!!
2. Proper use of punctuation, should help in reading. the message; and not causing confusion? laughing
3. Use the emoticons wisely for appropriate conditions and situations. But these emoticons are really cute if you see the actual image, eg
blushing    :">
 angryX(
 rolling on the floor =))
 big grin  :D
And if yahoo's emoticons are cute, gmail emoticons are rather cute too.

Oopss... ok, I am totally over with these emoticons...
4. Avoid sarcastic/nasty remarks. Even though you meant it as a joke, people might interpret it differently. Double oopss for me... I may have been guilty for this sometimes.blushing

Ok, back to the question: should we reply to every comments? I still feel we should. But others may beg to differ. For them, maybe some comments doesn't require an answer or maybe they have this in mind 'FB aku, suka hati aku la nak jawab ke tak'. winking And I don't blame them. It's not written anywhere that you are required to reply to every comments you received. Letih jugak beb.. especially if you have hundreds of comments. Mine tak la, that's why I can still manage to answer all big grin. But I'm putting this as my ethic of FB.

So I told my husband my opinion. And he said:
'Tolong la jawabkan'.

Ciss.... menyesal tanya...raised eyebrows
