Men from Mars, women from Venus?
It is a known fact that men can't seem to understand women. Women love to communicate via hints while men tend to be straightforward. When women said they are fine, they may not be fine after all. When women said they are not that hungry, just take them to a restaurant. Bila kata tak kisah, sebenarnya kisah.

I read something about this in Facebook the other day. And I found the same article here. An excerpt of the article:

Begin copy -

Not sure who's the original writer. But yes, I guess there are some truth in it. Maybe I'm guilty of it some times and was not even aware of it.

Recently, I made a statement to my husband how my S3 battery drains out very fast. And I blamed it on excessive whatsapping with my girlfriends. Well, maybe due to heavy facebooking as well...:)

Then after a few days he bought me this:

Powerbank! Cool... Now I don't have to worry about the phone dying out on me or having the hassle of bringing the charger along or to find for electric point to stick it in.

And then, on another day, I made a remark that my few-years-old Panasonic Lumix camera mcm dah tak sharp je bila ambik gambar. Alasan la kan... tak pandai ambik gambar salahkan camera. Ha ha...

Few days after that, he bought me a new camera. Double cool...

Well, in the first place, tak mintak pun beli powerbank or camera baru. Honestly those statements were made without any intention. Biasa la kot, org pompuan, semua benda nak grumble or nak whine. Sometimes words of sympathy pun dah cukup. Bukan mintak beli baru pun.

But reading the article about how women say things that they don't mean, well... maybe I sent the wrong signal unconsciously. And somehow my husband expertly read those unspoken signals. So, are men really from Mars? Yeah, maybe. But some men may have ventured to Venus and learn something about women.

Hmm.... lepas ni nak send signals pasal apa pulak eh...? Handbag? Kereta? ;D
Wat sek dulu dan sekarang
The Terengganu dialect is amazing. Few years ago I shared an article about Mujo in one of my FB notes. Few days ago, I read about this in my brother's FB page.

Ha ha... Memang kelakar. Kelasss bahasa Ganu...

Speaking about 'wat sek', we actually had something similar years ago, when I was in my matriculation days. I often exchanged text messages with 2 of my best friends Mona and Alon. In the class, I sat in the second row, behind Dijah and Lina Hassan. While Mona and Alon sat besides Dijah. So, how did we exchanged messages between us? We had what we called conversation book. I jotted down the message and asked Dijah/Lina Hassan to passed to Mona/Alon. And they will replied back the same way. Ha ha... Very outdated kan... But managed to keep us awake during classes. Kesian Lina Hassan and Dijah kena jadi posmen. And haru kalau conversation book tu terlepas kat orang lain yang tak sepatutnya baca...;D

Now with the modern days 'wat sek', I can easily keep in touch with family and friends. Especially friends. It makes life easier since we can 'wat sek' secara berkumpulan. We shared almost everything. Dari resipi ke masalah anak ke masalah bibik ke petua kurus ke bisnes ke isu-isu hangat ke perkongsian ilmu dan macam macam lagi.

On some days, the messages received can be hundreds. Sometimes, I may not be able to contribute to the discussion because of time and work constraints but reading the messages can be one way to release stress. And the messages keep me entertained during boring meetings... Well, I just have to remember to switch off the sound or else my phone will keep beeping each time there are incoming messages. So, let's 'wat sek'? To quote the tok kodi above: Barang percume! :)
Torch Out S3 In
I said goodbye to my Blackberry Torch more than a month ago. And welcome Samsung SIII aboard. I'm going to list down a few things that I observed regarding these 2 smartphones. Well, I know this is like comparing an apple to a pear tapi tak kira la...nak compare jugak.

1. Bigger screen and excellent resolution with S3. Puas hati tengok segala benda dgn clear. (age factor?)

2. S3 offers full touch screen while Torch combines physical keyboard and sliding touch screen. I kinda missed the physical keyboard. With S3 touch screen keyboard, the incidence of typo increased significantly. And being someone who works in an academic field, I have developed an allergy to typo thus I spent more time typing and correcting what I type. Sheesh.... A friend mentioned about a software called Swype keyboard in which you can just swipe from letter to letter to type. Enables faster typing, it claims. But crazy la... The typo with Swype would be a nightmare and intolerable. Well, at least it felt that way to me.

3. I love the camera function in S3. Besides the rear-facing and the front-facing cameras, it also enables picture cropping. These are not available with Torch. There are also a few shooting mode options available in S3 eg burst shot, face detection, smile shot (takes picture automatically when subject smiles) and beauty. I have tried the beauty mode. My skin jadi flawless gitu... Ha ha... And of course the picture quality is better than Torch. Can't remember the pixels or apakebendanyatu but S3 yields more excellent pictures.

4. You need to master the skill of swiping the screen with S3. Swipe the screen to unlock, swipe to answer calls, swipe to snooze or shut the alarm, swipe to view noticifations etc.. I remembered the first time I answered a call, I didn't notice the instruction on the screen that you have to swipe so I touch and poke the screen to answer the call. Of course la, it didn't work. Punye la jakun...

5. To download apps: if Blackberry has app world, S3 has Play store. Concept sama. Ada apps free, ada apps kena bayor. There are also Samsung apps and Zedge apps. I used Zedge apps to download ringtone and wallpapers. In Blackberry, you can download themes which comes with customized fonts, icons and setting. I love to experiment with the themes. For S3, you can download wallpapers. Got live wallpapers some more. I love to experiment with the wallpapers too. Currently I have the live wallpaper on. But be prepared to charge the phone's battery often. Dah live, banyak la pakai baterinya.

6. I missed the BBM service with BB. Had to leave the friends in my BB contact. But of course, it was not a great loss since I have Whatsapp too. However, the bad thing about Whatsapp is that it is based on phone numbers. Any phone numbers stored in your phone which has the WA installed will automatically be listed in your WA contact. Even though that contact does not keep your number, he/she is still your WA contact thus you still can see his/her profile and whatnots. Vice versa. Anyone who keeps your number will be able to view you as WA contact even though you did not have his/her number. Unlike BBM, once you remove the contact, that's it la. Tak de la boleh tgk2 lagi. (Am I making sense here? Buat2 la paham ya...).

7. Facebook!! Of course, with the larger screen and higher resolution, it is a pleasure to view pictures and news feed with S3. And S3 enables you to tag people in comments area which is not possible with Torch. I like... Errr.... bukan tgk facebook je pleasure. Kalau download Quran, a pleasure to read too since screen besar.

8. You can set to receive your emails via your phone. I have Yahoo and UKM email accounts. However, with S3, somehow I can only receive the UKM emails but failed to send out emails from that account. I don't know why. Setting dah betul dah. Never had this problem with Torch before. I have asked the UKM IT people and they also said they experienced similar situation. Pelik betul.

9. S3 has this motion function. Tilt, turn over etc which I haven't got the hang of yet. I disable most of the motion function. Same with the voice activation features. Tak guna pun or rather tak tahu nak guna pun... Err.. smart phone but not so smart user? :P

10. S3 also has this smart function in which the screen stays on as long as it detects your eyes looking at the screen. Kena la dgn tagline dia kot, designed for humans. But come to think about it, who else you want to design it for...:)

Maybe there are more comparisons that I missed. Furthermore, I haven't fully explored the S3. Manual pun tak baca :P. But despite the typo frustrations and the failure to send out emails, I'm beginning to love the S3. Tapi, note 2 macam best jugak kan... Ok, ok... I'm not going to succumb myself into becoming a tech slave...:D
Mind your fingers
The smartphones can be too smart for your own good at times. Once, when I was using iPhone, I despised the autocorrect function. Took me longer time to text since I have to correct the autocorrect. How ironic... Thus I disabled the autocorrect function. Abis cerita.

With Blackberry, there is some function of autocorrect but minimal. Anyway, kind of irritating when it happens.
eg
Usually I used shortforms like hr for hari, and the phone suka2 hati corrected it to hour.
At other times I used mn for mana. And of course, the BB could not tolerate so mn was changed to minute.
And yang paling tak boleh tahan, I am known as kak teh among my younger brothers and mak teh among my nieces and nephews. So, whenever I want to type kak teh or mak teh in my text message, the BB changed it to 'kak the' or 'mak the'. What the heck betul la kan...

Sometime ago, a friend shared  her own typo story in FB. And it was very funny. Here's the story:

"Tadi saya tulis mesej pada seseorang yang disegani. Nak cakap yg saya dah ter call dia secara tak sengaja. Sepatutnya bunyi gini.. 'maaf ****, saya tertekan phone tadi. Tak berniat nak call'. Tapi nasib tak baik saya tertulis..'maaf ****, saya tertelan phone tadi. Tak berminat nak call'. Si polan balas 'are u ok? Tertelan phone is very serious!'

Ha ha.... I laughed out lout when I first read the story sampaikan my kids pun pelik. And I laughed again when I typed this just now.

Well, typo is one thing. Sent to the wrong person was another thing.
Once, I meant to bbm my hubby who was stuck in the office due to work. So I bbm this 'Lmbt ke balik? Tak masak tadi'.
Then the red alert of incoming message flashed. I thought it was my hubby replying but instead Hemy (high school friend) yang reply, 'So, nak suh aku msk ke?'
Ha ha... Of all people, I wrongly sent the message to her yang memang diketahui kekerapan dia masuk ke dapur amat sedikit.
That's what happened when you have several chat history in bbm...

Lessons learnt. Not only you have to spell-it-right, you also need to mind your fingers.
Talking about smartphones, the Samsung range of phones macam best je... (mode berangan nak tukar henfon baru...)
More than 'play-play'
This is how I exploited the use of Blackberry playbook :):
To ensure she will be occupied when traveling so that mummy can doze off for a while (or more time for FBing).

To entertain herself while mummy busy with house chores (or FBing again).

To ensure she would be obedient and finish her meal faster so that mummy can clear all the dishes in the sink (or again more time for FB).

To put her to sleep so that mummy can finish off ironing and what nots (or of course, FBing). ;P

Blackberry vs iPhone (FB matters)
I had the privilege of using iPhone previously and is lucky to be using Blackberry now. Since the application that I most often (or always?) use is Facebook, here are some differences between these smartphones in terms of FBing.
Pic from here.

1. The large screen of iPhone is wayyy better than BB which has a very cenonet screen. The larger the screen, the better to see the photos in FB.happy

2. The FB interface for iPhone is much more lively and colourful than BB's. Dull semacam je BB.yawn

3. iPhone will alert you of all notifications including the 'Likes' but BB will miss out on the 'Likes' alert. Unless you go to the Mobile site which is redundant if you think about it.rolling eyes

4. I don't like the quality of the photos taken by BB. Very poor. Yes, of course, my BB may lack some pixel as compared to the other BB models. Pics taken by iPhone looks much better.thumbs up

5. What I hated most about the BB (in terms of FB) is when uploading photos. There's a limit on the number of words you can type for the photo's caption. Unlike iPhone. And for someone who realllly loves to write long sentences and long captions, that limitation is realllly frustrating.frustrated

6. I looveee the iPhone's touch screen which makes the world an easier place to live in...winking Easy browsing, easy zooming and easy segala. With BB, the track pad which is very small in size, works just like the track pad on your laptop. Well, kinda easy to use but sometimes I may overscroll and accidentally click on something that I did not meant. For instance, I accidentally click 'Like' on somebody's activity and had to 'Unlike'. Asyik terbabas je...

7. Posting a status or a comment is comparable for both I think. Both kinda easy. And of course the tendency for typo exists for both. I used to hate the iPhone autocorrect and switched it off but then I switched it back on. Coz sometimes it helps, a lot... I'm aware of BB's autocorrect but I think it is not as extensive as iPhone. Ke aku yang tak pandai guna? tongue

8. One thing that I noticed when I was using iPhone was that there's no option to find friend and add the friend. While BB allowed you to send invitation by email. Well, you need to know the email address of the person to be able to use this option. sigh

9. One plus point of BB is the alert. Even though the application is already closed, the alert still comes in. Thus you don't have to constantly open the app and check whether there's any notifications. But with iPhone, once you have exited the app, the alert does not show sad. Well, the iPhone I was using was an older model. Maybe newer iPhones have been improved in this sense.

10. Something about non-FB. I like the way you can download BB's  templates and layout for the main screen. Many designs to choose from, and it's free. For instance from Crackberry. Cool...cool Not sure if iPhones allowed you to do that. My research is limited. (Malas la pulak nak buat research). And not forgetting the BBM. Well, that's another story.

There you have it. Ten points and most of them sided with iPhone. Well, what can I expect? iPhones are designed for entertainment purposes but BB is meant for the corporate, business  and busy (like me big grin) individuals that need to be contactable at all times. Thus, the dull appearance but very practical.

So, why the heck did I let go the iPhone and decided on BB instead? Well, it's free. Who am I to resist...happy
Blame it on the Voice

Voice navigation starts.
Good, it's functioning well.

In 100 meters, turn left.
Ok, noted.

Turn left.
Alright, I'm turning left.

In 100 meters, turn right. Then turn right.
Ok, roger that.

Turn right.
Done.

Go straight.
Great, that's easy.

In 100 meters stay on the left lane and enter the expressway.
Cool, I'm on my way.

Go straight.
Ok, no problemo.

Rest area in 100 meters.
Thanks but no thanks.

Toll booth in 100 meters.

In 100 meters stay on the left lane and exit the expressway.
Ok. I saw the exit.

Stay on the left lane and go straight.
Okayyyyy...

Stay on the left lane.
I am on the left lane.

Opps... how did I get to the Putrajaya Sentral instead?

Dah kena U-turn. Haiyaa...d'oh

Wishful thinking: I think the above won't happen if that thing emits the voice of Faizal Tahir or Jason Mraz. tongue

Note: the above events occurred en route to Kota Warisan via MEX highway.  Some parts have been truncated for the sake of the readers big grin. I was with Elin, a friend from school. However the back-talk above was not uttered out loud. For the sake of Elin. winking
Say Yes To e-Cigarette?
Electronic-cigarette anyone? It is targeted to those who wanted to wean off from their smoking habit.

Features:

The whole starter set costs RM310. It consists of the cigarette  with detachable cartridge. The starter pack contains 3 packs of refillable cartridges. Each pack has 5 cartridges.

Cartridges - refillable and contain flavors. Can be the flavor of cigarette brands such as Dunhill or Marlboro. (Hmm... confused Got flavor meh?) Also available in fruity flavors such as vanilla or caramel. A cartridge is said to be equal to 14 cigarettes. Individual refillable cartridge pack (5 cartridges) costs RM15.

When inhaled, the tip lights up, just like a real cigarette. But no ashes la kan...

Smoke is also produced. Upon exhaling, the smoker actually blow out smoke, well... more like vapor actually. But it is odorless and it is said to be harmless to people surrounding. So, boleh la smoke indoor and in air-conditioned places eh? tongue

It does not contain tar and few other harmful ingredients. Hmm...thinking but from my reading these e-cigarettes still contain nicotine. But I also found out that the nicotine concentration varies, can choose from as low as 0 mg of nicotine. Tepuk paru-paru, tanya selera kot? winking.

A trusted informer conveyed to me the flavor is so thick, rasa pahit jadinya.

Hmm...conclusionnya, effective ke tak ni?
Extending the iPhone life
This is a story of Mummy and her iPhone

Mummy just got an iPhone... cool...cool
Lots of applications, one of which is FB...wajib ada..big grin
Can store lots of songs...yeah...dancing
Lots of free games...Kids fighting over it... adoii...d'oh

So, on a normal day, mommy may use it to log in onto FB, or maybe check her email account. And of course make calls to people, such as daddy and tanya, 'Pukul berapa abang balik?'happy
Then the kids may take turns to play the games. Let's say, each kid spent half an hour of playing?
The daddy pun mungkin tumpang semangkuk jugak main games which is unlikely because he got his PSP. But maybe la... who knows...thinking

Then the next day, mummy went to work only to find the battery level showing red alert. Arggh... tension...at wits' end That's the downside of these iPhones...hari-hari kena charge... And mummy forgot to bring charger. Mummy would rather suffer no air-cond at work but please not handphone battery kong..

Thus, mummy was grateful to daddy who was very understanding and bought for mummy this solar charger for iPhone kiss. Can be solar charged (at least 6 hours under hot sun) or electrically charged (at least 3 hours). It's chic-looking and can fit nicely in mummy's handbag. Once fully charged the solar charger can be plugged in into the iPhone and able to supply an extra 40 minutes talking time to the iPhone. So, very helpful in emergency cases when the battery went dry. I repeat EMERGENCY. So mummy is not supposed to play games or to browse the FB on the emergency extra battery power shame on you. Well, let's hope mummy don't forget to charge the solar charger or else she better pray that the sun is hot enough for charging...winking
