Need a Muse
Reasons I need a muse so bad right now...

1. I'm in the middle of writing a manuscript based on research findings. And I have been stuck at the Discussion part for ages now... Susah betul nak string the sentences and make some sense out of the findings.. ha ha.. (Especially if the results ada sikit-sikit nonsense in the fist place...laughing) Somebody once said writing a journal article is just like spinning a story for the reader. Need to keep the reader interested to read on... And I'm stuck... Major stuck!!angry

2. I need to think of research ideas for future work. No idea, cannot apply for grants. No grants, cannot do research. No research, cannot supervise students. No research and no students, cannot produce results. No results, cannot write journal articles. No journal articles, cannot have good yearly appraisal. No good yearly appraisal, cannot get a rise in pay. No rise in pay, cannot macam-macam... Haiya....d'oh

3. Wish I can update this blog often. But at times, I just have no idea what to write. Cerita banyak-banyak pasal diri sendiri... orang meluats pulak tongue. Cerita banyak-banyak pasal anak, orang kata macam la dia sorang ada anak  ha ha... So, I am in a dire need of ideas... But on second thought, update selalu-selalu pun ada ke orang nak baca? raised eyebrows

That's why I need a muse. Or maybe in my case, muses...big grin

No la... scratch the muse. Allah is enough to guide me in everything I do. happy

Below is the title of one of our papers published last year. See my name at the end of the authors' list? I need more papers with my name in front. Takkan asyik nak menempel je kan...winking

From womb to world
9th of March.

6 years ago, I was pregnant with my 3rd child and was almost full term. It was Tuesday and I went to work as usual. Throughout the day I started to have some contractions but I ignored it thinking it was still too early and thought it was just Braxton Hicks. In addition, during the previous 2 pregnancies, my labour was preceded by tell-tale sign of blood spotting. Since no tell-tale sign yet, I disregard the warning.

I managed to get through the day at the office, by lying down, most of the time... Might as well ambik cuti hari tu, tapi degil... tongue And I managed to drive back home. Later at home, it was already Maghrib when I noticed the spotting and I immediately called my husband who was still in the office. He rushed home and in the meantime I managed to get ready and called my maid to come over (she was the daily maid who stays quite near to my house).

Once hubby was home, we headed for HUKM. Me in pain, he in panic worried. Both of us praying that the traffic will be clear for us knowing that on usual working days, traffic to Cheras area can be very bad. Alhamdulillah, not that bad. However, my condition was not good at all. Few hundreds meters to the gate of HUKM, my water broke and my thought at that time was : 'Alamak!! Habis la seat kereta.' ha ha.. of all the things to worry about, I  was worrying about the car seat..big grin  Luckily it was leather and not the fabric type. We reached the OnG Emergency and I was wheeled in on a wheel chair. Upon examination, I was found to be fully dilated and was rushed to the labour room. Nak tukar hospital gown pun tak sempat whew!.

It was over before I knew it and Syahidah Nor Aida was born. She was very small, weighing a mere 2.01 kg. But that was 6 years ago. She has now grown up to be an adorable little girl who is loving, manja, nakal, tantrum sometimes and cute but with difficult-to-manage-tahap-dewa hair winking.

Syahidah, at 5 months old.

We had a simple birthday celebration for her that day with the usual cake and blowing candles.

And this is she with her birthday present. She actually asked for a pirate scope but hubby could not find the item so the next thing on her list is binoculars. Ntah hape yang dia nak teropong ntah...thinking

We had dinner at Naili's Place located at Taman Dato' Senu of Sentul. Nice place.

I had vermicelli in tom yam soup and this wicked looking drink called Mermaid, which is strawberry soda, with ice cream and whipped cream. Kenyang gila...

The food is quite nice. Should try the place if you happen to be in the vicinity.

We have been dining there several times in the past. One thing that was new which did not exist the last time we were there, is the DJ who welcome requests for song dedications from the patrons. So my husband asked the DJ to put on a birthday song for Syahidah. Syahidah, hearing her name being mentioned by the DJ, smiled sheepishly. Malu la pulak...blushing

Looking at Syahidah now, I can hardly believe that this miraculous creation actually came from my womb. I thank Allah for granting me this child. And despite her sometimes-degil-tak-nak-dengar-cakap attitude, she's such a joy to me and hubby. Ala... rasa mcm nak nangis la pulak...crying
D.I.E.T
Wednesday has been regarded as the no-cooking day for myself. Because on that day, there's a night market, very close to the house and on top of that, Wednesday is my washing day. Got to wash the kids' school uniforms. So, once I got back from the office, I would embark in the mission and once finished, will be too exhausted and have limited time to cook. So, beli je la... The kids, jangan cakap la... they look forward to the weekly night market. And sometimes make me wonder, they actually prefer night market food to my cooking??? Isyh... no talking

Anyhow, one Wednesday, I went to the night market with 2 of my kids, Syahirah and Syahidah. They wanted chicken rice. As the seller was packing the order, Syahirah said, 'Angah tak nak sayur.' I said, 'Tak pe la, nanti mak makan.' Then the seller pulak menyampuk, 'Ha'ah, nanti kalau tak abis, mak jugak makan..' Cisss... but really a spot-on...laughing My behavior can be analogically compared to DBKL or Alam Flora. Segala yang tak abis (almost all), will often goes to me. That's how 'healthy' my diet is...sigh

Another example:
One weekend, hubby bought breakfast from the stall near our house. I don't want anything, I said. But 3 of my children, who have very HUGE appetite these days, wanted nasi lemak, 5 packs of nasi lemak... Sarapan ke hape diorang ni...thinking Well, they did eat from all 5 packs, but they left the anchovies, the cucumber and the nasi part which got a lot of sambal. Kan ke orang selalu kata, kalau tak abiskan nasi, even sebutir, nasi tu akan nangis..? So I felt pity seeing all the leftovers and I ended up eating them even tho I did not intend to have any breakfast that morning tongue. Hmm... Datuk Fadzilah Kamsah tak berkenan la ni kalau mak makan sisa anak... tapi daripada membazir... Anyway, all in all, I think the amount that I ate was more than 1 pack... How la jadi macam ni...d'oh

The same day, I cooked tomato rice. The kids ate 'bersungguh-sungguh'. I ate 'separa sungguh' coz overate that morning. However, that night, I ate 'sungguh-sungguh terpaksa' coz somehow even tho the kids ate 'bersungguh-sungguh', they ate very little and there was a lot more rice... Pity hit me again...sigh

The next day, a Sunday, breakfast time kinda repeated the previous day. And supermom act again. Makan lagi. Then I cooked chicken rice. My kids' favorite. I managed to eat some before I rushed to Titiwangsa Lake Garden to attend the clinical booth organized by my students in a 2-day programme of 1Malaysia Festival. They set a booth to measure BMI, body fat, BP, glucose level, cholesterol level and blood group.

Alang-alang dah kat situ, I had some tests done. I had my glucose and cholesterol levels measured. I can't remember when was the last time I checked my cholesterol level. And considering the overdose of food I had so far, I feared that I would kantoi the results. But Alhamdulillah, both were within normal range. So, does this mean I can continue with the eating marathon?? winking

However, I skipped the other measurement especially the BMI and body fat. That's me in the denial mode or better known as 'tak sedar diri'. Well, I'm applying the concept of, what I don't know, won't hurt me... Yeah... right...raised eyebrows And I'm going to attend a 2-day workshop at a hotel next week. I sure need a strong willpower so that I won't overeat. If only putting a stop to this unhealthy diet is as easy as putting a full-stop at the end of a sentence...big grin

The End of Everything
One fine day
She just wanted to play
To run and laugh away
While there's still sun ray

One fine day
She didn't know, no way
There will be no more day
For her to play

One fine day
On that fated Thursday
The father figure which he portray
Damn!! He brutally betray

One fine day
Just because she disobey
She became a prey
And she uttered her last say

One fine day
The day turned gray
Down there she lay
We can only pray

One fine day
We hope he will pay
Maybe not today
But someday.... someday...

Dedicated to Syafia Humairah for her tragic death.

Allah entrusted us with kids. How do we answer Him if we betray the trust?
Cinta Comel
Cinta Comel is the name of my sister-in-law's shop in AmCorp Mall. On Maulidur Rasul, she held an opening ceremony of the shop. She's the one wearing black blouse and her husband is the one in white shirt.

The highlight of the event is cutting the pulut kuning. There were lots of other food: fried noodles, fried vermicelli and many sorts of kuih. My mother-in-law, the one in the brown jubah, is a great cook and she prepared most of the food together with my sister-in-law. Diriku datang makan je...big grin

The shop is located on the lower ground of the shopping complex and features ladies' attire and dresses. These are some of the dresses on sale.

Jubah

T-shirts

Blouses

And more blouses

So, in case you happened to be in AmCorp Mall, do drop by her shop. Err... I can't promise you special price but you can try. Cuba la seru-seru my name, maybe you can get a discount..winking

Anyhow, I wish her success in her business just like Prophet Muhammad who was a very successful businessman thumbs up.
KiPPAS
It has nothing to do with 'kipas' (fan).

It has nothing to do with 'kipas sate' (skewered meat grilled on coal fire with constant fanning of the fire).

It has nothing to do with 'kipas orang' (sucking-up to people aka sycophant).

It actually stands for Kiosk Pembaharuan Pasport (Pasport Renewal Kiosk).

Hubby and I went to Immigration Pusat Bandar Damansara the other day to renew my passport. And we were advised to use the kiosk since it will save our time.

How to use the machine:

First, you need to fill in this envelope. Make sure all the necessary documents are ready.

Then you go to one of the machines. I think there are 4 or 5 of them.

Just follow the instructions on the screen.

1. Put your passport into the slot.

2. Insert your MyKad into the slot.

The machine will detect and read your MyKad.

3. Place your thumb (right or left) on the sensor.

Once the machine has detected and verified your thumb print along the passport and MyKad particulars, removed your thumb, passport and MyKad.

4. Pay for the new passport. Only RM50 and RM100 notes are accepted. You may choose a period of 2 years or 5 years. RM100 for 2 years. RM300 for 5 years.

Let me do the calculation for you. RM100=2 years. If you renew every 2 years, you only pay RM300 for 6 years as opposed to single payment of RM300 for 5 years money eyes. But the setback is, if you renew the passport for 2 years, kena la pulak pergi immigration after 2 years and kena beratur lagi and kena tunggu lagi...waiting

5. Lastly, put in the envelope containing a photocopy of your MyKad, your passport sized photo and your old pasport.

A receipt will be printed out and you should be able to collect your new passport at the specified counter on Level 1 of the building after 2 hours. Kena ambik no giliran jugak la. So, the kiosk only save you half of the waiting time but you still need to wait to get the new passport.

While waiting, we had lunch at Secret Recipe.

I had the infamous Tom Yam Kung.

and a ridiculous childish drink of Oreo Milkshake...Childish pun childish la... janji sedap...drooling

Hubby had the Thai Style Fried Rice. He shook his head when he saw me taking out my camera. However, he readily obliged taking the photo of this dish... This is what I call: behind every succesfull successful blogging wife, there's a  husband with a camera...winking

We finished our lunch and we done strolling around the area aimlessly so we went up to Level 1 and was told that the passport is impossible to be issued within 2 hours since they were having printing problems... I was advised to come again another day...  Looks like the KiPPAS is not KiPPASing fast enough...d'oh

Finally we ended up watching a movie, The Wolfman. It was kind of boring. Same story line, same concept, kind of straightforward predictable ending. I actually fell asleep a few times sleepy. There are lots of versions of Werewolf movies and I don't know why they keep doing movies like that. Are they obsessed or what? It was a waste of time watching it but time wasted with your loved one is worth wasting...love struck
